Demonstration for Epsom & Ewell Art Group
Last Wednesday I did a demonstration painting for Epsom & Ewell Art Group. The subject was 'Boats and Reflections' and this was the end result. This is a scene from Dartmouth and features a couple of Brixham trawlers. I ran out of time towards the end but I managed to complete most of what I wanted to get across in about an hour and a half.
Painted on a stretched half imperial sheet of 200lb Bockingford NOT paper.

Demonstration, West Dartmoor Art Group

Yesterday, I did a demonstration for West Dartmoor Art Group, at Peter Tavy. 'Seascape in Watercolour' was the subject, so I did this rocky coastal scene of Lundy Island.
Thank you to Dick Brown, who recorded my progress in these photos.

Ongar Art Society
I visited Ongar Art Society, in Essex last Thursday for a watercolour demonstration. Still life was requested so I took along these few items and set them up on a little stage. I lit the arrangement from above with a lamp.

West Moors demonstration
Here's a recent demonstration I did for West Moors Art Society. I was asked to do 'animals' so I chose this feline model.

'Trawlers at Brixham'
Yesterday afternoon I visited Seaton Art Society to do a demonstration. The theme was 'Creating Atmosphere' and my subject was a couple of boats in Brixham Harbour. The photograph I used as a reference was a bit bland and contained a lot of unnecessary detail. I simplified the scene considerably and, hopefully, created a more atmospheric feel with a little mystery.
Painted on Saunders Waterford 200lb NOT paper, stretched onto the board.

Demonstration for Newton Poppleford Art Society
Did a watercolour demonstration for Newton Poppleford Art Society yesterday afternoon. The theme for this one was 'Rocky Coastline' so I chose to do a seascape at Bigbury Bay, which is quite near Burgh Island... reached at high tide via sea tractor. I don't think you could get much more rocky than this bit of coastline.
Painted on a stretched half Imperial sheet of Bockingford rough.

Demonstration for Tiverton Art Society
'Totnes High Street'. I painted this as a demonstration for Tiverton Art Society on Wednesday evening. The theme was 'Loosening up Your Watercolours', which is always a popular topic. It took two hours, from blank sheet to finished painting (with a break in the middle for tea and biscuits!).
Painted on a stretched half Imperial sheet of Bockingford rough.
